Hi Everyone,
Spring has sprung. Some of the students believe it is summer vacation. Please encourage your student to complete homework assignments written in their agenda and study for their spelling test every week.
Our class is studying Figurative Language. In their binders they have a list of the ways writers use figurative language in their writing. The list has the type of figurative language and a definition. They are working on creating their own imagery, metaphor, similes, puns, palindromes this week. There will be more next week. What they don't complete in class they are supposed to complete for homework.
In writing we will begin a unit on Persuasive writing. In reading we will begin a unit on What and why authors write. We will highlight some authors throughout the nine weeks.
Today I am sending home a packet with an envelope that you will need to self-address and place 3 stamps on, so I can send you your student's report card and other pertinent information. Please return the envelope with the stamps attached and your address on the front. Also please complete the registration card on both sides and place it the envelop. The envelope and registration card are to be returned by Friday, April 15, 2011. Even if you child is not planning to attend Russell next year, we still need the card with your name on it and a note stating your child will not be returning. Don't forget to return your envelop with your address and 3 stamps on it whether your child is returning or not. This is important so we can send your child's report card home. It is also important to meet the deadline of April 15, 2011 for registration cards. If we do not receive a card we cannot register your child for classes next year.
Friday is Picture Day. It is also the Spring Dance. Yearbook orders are due in 2 weeks.
Thanks for all you do,
Ms. Breeden
